Mar 27th | Worship is Life
?Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father? Colossians 3:17
To me this verse has a lot to do with worship. Let me attempt to explain. When we give thanks to God, we give him Glory. Whatever we do that gives God glory is an act of worship. Therefore, whatever we do whether in word or deed in the name of Jesus is worship to God.
One thing I have noticed in the church today is that the word worship has been incredibly misconstrued. Let me show you what I mean with this example from my life.
A month or so ago I[ READ MORE | Posted on: March 27th, 2009 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Mar 15th | A Good 4 Letter Word
9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet,"[1] and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[2] 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. 11And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
These verses have always fascinated me. Often for different reasons. But one thin[ READ MORE | Posted on: March 15th, 2009 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Feb 6th | It's the Little Things
One thing I have noticed recently is in a more real sense God is everywhere. This occured to me as I started riding my bike a lot more. While I ride along the bike path I am surrounded by His awesome creation. The Oak trees tower over me, Squirrels, Wild Turkeys, run about their business while the Acorn Woodpeckers peck away at the trees above. The beautiful American River flowing steadily through the valley. It is all just so beautiful to me. One thing that really struck me as I began riding my bike more is that I know this stuff isn't here by accident. I know there is a creator behind[ READ MORE | Posted on: February 6th, 2009 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Jan 25th | Faith like a Child
"The little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Maybe it is just because I love kids so much, but this idea of faith like a child is huge to me. Kids have a lot of wisdom in their faith, loving God without question and knowing he is there no matter what. I recently got these amazing books called Children's Letters to God they have brought me so mu[ READ MORE | Posted on: January 25th, 2009 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Jan 17th | With My God I Can . .
There is one verse in the bible that I can honestly say I can not comprehend, but I strive everyday to do so. I work on my faith striving to be settled in this truth. That verse is Phillippians 4:13 it says "I can do EVERYTHING through him who gives me strength." Who is that? Well my friend that would Jesus with the help of his Holy Spirit.
One thing I have learned recently is to take God out of my box. Meaning there is so much stuff in this world I do not understand. I often ask myself "How is that possible?", a lot of stuff is just way beyond me. For example. Mirac[ READ MORE | Posted on: January 17th, 2009 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Dec 23rd | I'M NOT A SINNER!
What the heck am I talking about. Am I really that vain that I can actually say I am not a sinner? Well I must admit I am human so I do have vanity within me, but trust me that is not the reason for me saying I am not a sinner. This is something God has really put on my heart recently and has really helped me break free of a walking around in defeat all the time. I will do the best I can to explain this, please shoot me an e-mail with your comments brycec@christcoremusic.net. I welcome them regardless of what they may be.

| | Nov 17th | Prayer of Brokeness
God's grace, his love, his protection, his majesty is an amazing thing. I am not just saying this as a statement of fact but also as a reminder. Life is so hectic recently, so uncertain as to what I am supposed to do in relationships, friendships, work. It is just all up in the air. Regardless I know that GOd is there even in those times that my humanity makes it impossible to see, he is there.
I just need forgiveness for my pride, for my lustful heart, for my lack of faith, lack of trusting in you. I am sorry that I constantly hurt you with these things Lord. It grieves me so much,[ READ MORE | Posted on: November 17th, 2008 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Sep 20th | Prayer 101
I think prayer is the most important thing as a Christian. A lot of people ask me what prayer is, do you have to bow your head? what do you need to say? do you have to pray? how do you do it? etc. Again I am not some amazing scholar but I will do my best to answer this question.
We should probably go to the authority on the matter though. His name is Jesus, perhaps you know him. When his disciples asked him how we should pray he replied:
When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men" he[ READ MORE | Posted on: September 20th, 2008 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Aug 28th | Checklist of a good life
"For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men. We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! we are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! To this very house we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. We Word hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this[ READ MORE | Posted on: August 28th, 2008 PST | By: Bryce Cooley]
| | Jul 13th | A Living Sacrifice?
"Therefore I urge you brother, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodes as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship." Romans 12:1
This has always been one of my favorite verses. No not because it has the name of an amazing hardcore band (Living Sacrifice) in the title. It is one of those verses that shows the resolve we are supposed to have as Christians. Sure I mess up all the time and I DO NOT offer my body as a living sacrifice, well before I get ahead of myself let me tell you what I am talking about.
